Meta Reveals Ray-Ban Meta Display Smart Glasses with HUD Ahead of Meta Connect 2025
Meta has surprised fans by dropping a promotional video on YouTube just one day before Meta Connect 2025, showcasing its entire upcoming smart glasses lineup. Spotted by UploadVR, the video highlights several key products, including the highly anticipated Ray-Ban Meta Display featuring an integrated HUD and a wearable wrist device for control. The official announcement is expected during Meta Connect 2025 on September 17–18.
The star of the lineup is the Ray-Ban Meta Display, which integrates a HUD into the right lens to display navigation maps, live text translation, and interactive Meta AI responses. Control is powered by a wearable device using sEMG technology that translates subtle hand gestures, such as writing motions, to reply to messages. Despite concerns over frame thickness in earlier reports, Meta continues its strong partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the owner of Ray-Ban.

Another highlight is the Oakley Meta Sphaera, a wraparound sports smart glasses design equipped with a central nose bridge camera, speakers, and a microphone. Tailored for outdoor activities like skiing and cycling, it mirrors the design philosophy of current Meta smart glasses. A new blue-colored Ray-Ban Meta model was also revealed, expanding customization options.
Premium models such as the Hypernova (Meta Celeste) are expected to launch later this year, priced at around USD 800, offering advanced features bridging the gap between regular AI glasses and experimental AR devices like Orion. For comparison, standard Ray-Ban Meta models start at USD 299. Meta has further strengthened its collaboration with EssilorLuxottica through a €3 billion investment for a 3% stake.
This unveiling reinforces Meta’s strategy of making smart glasses a central platform for AI experiences. The Ray-Ban Meta line has been successful since the Quest 2 era, and rumors suggest that an SDK for third-party developers may debut at Meta Connect 2025, allowing apps like Spotify and Audible to integrate with the glasses.
With Meta’s focus shifting heavily toward smart glasses and AI, Meta Connect 2025 could be more impactful than expected. While privacy concerns around always-on cameras and AI remain, the appeal of HUD-enabled features could make smart glasses a mainstream reality.
