5 Things That Make Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 So Hilariously Over-the-Top

From Tactical Shooter to Call of Fantasy

Gamers know Call of Duty as a tactical FPS series where players assume the role of soldiers in wars or special ops missions. But the latest release, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, has left players joking that it’s no longer COD. it’s Call of Fantasy. From insane tech to mind-bending dimensions, here are five reasons why this installment feels hilariously over-the-top.

1. Futuristic Terminator-Level Technology

In previous COD games, advanced tech meant more sophisticated weapons against human enemies. In Black Ops 7, players face heavily armored robots, robotic dogs, and airborne drones—all far deadlier than humans. Despite using standard firearms, the battlefield feels like a full-on war of futuristic machines.

2. Virus Outbreak and Mind-Bending Hallucinations

The story kicks off when a viral outbreak occurs after a failed data heist. The virus, a red gaseous substance, induces hallucinations that overlay reality with floating islands, giant falling knives, warp-capable bosses, and hellish enemies. Missions alternate between the real world and nightmarish visions, creating a chaotic, surreal FPS experience.

3. Superhero-Level Movement

Even outside hallucinations, soldiers gain superhuman mobility. Players can swing with grappling guns, jump across rooftops with high-tech boots, or glide through the air. Traditional tactical cover-based shooting takes a backseat as characters fly, dash, and engage in vertically dynamic combat.

4. Shoot Aliens, Zombies, and Mutated Bugs

During hallucinations, players no longer fight humans—they battle zombie hordes, mutated aliens, and grotesque insect monsters. Combat feels closer to Doom than classic Call of Duty, with frenetic action against hordes of enemies, reinforcing the “Call of Fantasy” reputation.

5. Giant Mutant Bosses Straight Out of Resident Evil

Boss fights mix high-tech adversaries in the real world and massive mutated monsters in hallucinations. Players must target weak points while managing summoned demon minions, evoking Resident Evil-style encounters. Even veteran FPS players may find themselves questioning if they’re in a tactical shooter at all.

Despite the absurdities, Black Ops 7 remains fun, blending FPS mechanics with chaotic, imaginative gameplay. Treat it as a co-op FPS adventure with friends and enjoy the over-the-top spectacle without taking it too seriously.
