ASUS has confirmed the discontinuation of its popular graphics cards, the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB models, as reported by Hardware Unboxed. The decision comes amid severe global memory shortages, with both models entering End of Life (EOL) status.
The shortage has already affected multiple regions, particularly Australia, where retailers report that RTX 5070 Ti stock is no longer available through distributors. The RTX 5060 Ti 16GB faces a similar situation. Rising global RAM prices have made producing high-capacity 16GB cards increasingly expensive, prompting ASUS to halt production to manage costs effectively.
NVIDIA, however, has issued a statement via Engadget, assuring that demand for GeForce GPUs remains strong and that all SKUs continue to be shipped. The company is working closely with suppliers to mitigate memory shortages. Despite this, retail availability is already becoming scarce, signaling tighter supply in the near term.
The memory shortage is largely driven by growing demand for AI workloads, leading major memory manufacturers such as Micron Technology to prioritize high-bandwidth RAM for data centers over consumer products. This shift has caused price increases for RAM, SSDs, and GPUs, forcing some brands to pivot toward enterprise markets rather than consumer segments.
Another factor is NVIDIA’s recent policy change reportedly requiring partners like ASUS to source memory independently. If accurate, this change explains why ASUS is discontinuing high-RAM models to control production costs and reduce financial risks.
Consumers interested in the RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB may face rising prices. Some RTX 5070 Ti units are already reaching USD 830 (≈28,200 THB), significantly higher than their original launch prices.
The move highlights ongoing supply chain challenges in the GPU market, particularly for high-capacity models, while NVIDIA continues to assure overall product availability.
