Apple Launch of iPhone Pocket in collaboration with Issey Miyake

Combining Japanese fashion with technology

Apple announces the launch of the iPhone Pocket, a new add-on product in collaboration with renowned Japanese designer Issey Miyake in a limited edition form. This product is inspired by a single piece of fabric knitted with 3D knitting techniques, creating Issey Miyake’s signature pleech-like elastic mesh structure.

The long crossbody model for shoulder straps is priced at 229.95 US dollars or about 8,500 baht and is available in 3 colors: blue, esmerald, brown and black. The short version for the arm or pocket costs US$149.95 or about 5,500 baht, and comes in additional vibrant colors such as orange, lemon, purple, pink, and turquoise, which is perfect for users who want variety to pair with their personal style.

According to Yoshiyuki Miyamae, design director of Miyake Design Studio, the iPhone Pocket reflects the relationship between iPhone and user, allowing people to enjoy wearing their smartphones in their own way. This product can fit any iPhone model perfectly, with a slot for keys, cards, or other minor items, which provides more capacity than the standard $59 iPhone shoulder strap previously launched.

This design seamlessly blends fashion with technology. The mesh knitted structure makes the bag flexible and breathable, making it ideal for everyday use, whether on the shoulder or on the arm. Apple emphasizes that the iPhone Pocket is not just a bag, it’s an accessory that elevates the user’s lifestyle.

Many people think of an old history when Steve Jobs once launched the iPod Socks in 2004 with a price of 29 US dollars and a revolutionary product blurb. This time, Apple brought back a similar concept in an upgraded version in collaboration with a luxury brand. The price is almost ten times higher, but it comes with a world-class design that could become a hit item among collectors and fashionistas.

iPhone Pocket will be available on November 14, both online and in select Apple Stores in select countries such as the United States, France, China, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Those who are interested should hurry up and book as it is a limited edition product that is expected to sell out quickly. With a novel design that combines fun with Issey Miyake luxury.
