Seven Deadly Sins Origin (7DS) Exclusive Interview
The game brings an original multiverse story and expansive open-world exploration across Britannia, letting players collect and customize Knights from Seven Deadly Sins to define their own adventures. Today, we had the chance to speak with Koo Do Hyung, Netmarble F&C Executive Producer for Seven Deadly Sins Origin (7DS), to learn more about the game’s vision, design, and development.
About Koo Do Hyung

Koo Do Hyung founded FunnyPaw, a game startup, in 2013 with four high school classmates. FunnyPaw joined Netmarble in 2014, where he contributed to Seven Deadly Sins: GRAND CROSS as part of the development team. He later served as PD for the mobile RPG SoulKing in 2017 and has since focused on RPG and open-world games, leading development for Seven Deadly Sins Origin (7DS) as Executive Producer.
Interview with Koo Do Hyung
TIG: How did your team design Britannia to keep exploration fresh and engaging for players?
Koo Do Hyung: As an open-world RPG, Seven Deadly Sins Origin (7DS) encourages players to discover their own paths, encountering new locations at unexpected moments. We revived areas mentioned briefly in the original series and created entirely new regions specifically for this game. Each location is designed to evoke surprise and wonder, making exploration exciting for both longtime fans and newcomers. Some special creatures can only be found in specific weather conditions or time periods, rewarding detailed exploration.
TIG: Can you share more about the in-game pet system and how pets impact gameplay?
Koo Do Hyung: Not all creatures can be tamed; only certain monsters are capturable. Rare pets are found through special conditions or secret areas, giving players a sense of discovery and challenge. Pets can be earned through exploration, defeating field bosses, dungeon bosses, or fishing. They aren’t just companions—they are strategic resources that influence combat and player progression.

TIG: How does the multiverse storyline connect with the main series while still being accessible to new players?
Koo Do Hyung: The game takes place between Seven Deadly Sins and Four Knights of the Apocalypse, but it exists in a parallel universe. Longtime fans will recognize characters and scenes in new ways, while newcomers can enjoy a complete and immersive story independently. This period fills gaps in the timeline, allowing us to create familiar and fresh content without being constrained by the original narrative.
TIG: The game supports Thai language. How did you ensure localization and cultural adaptation?
Koo Do Hyung: From the start, The Seven Deadly Sins Origin (7DS) was designed for a global market. It launches simultaneously on PlayStation 5, PC (Steam), and mobile, with full cross-platform play. The game supports 13 languages to ensure everyone experiences the same immersive world. We actively gather feedback from global players via CBT tests, refining gameplay, balance, and content. Post-launch, updates will include new regions, storylines, characters, bosses, seasonal challenges, and co-op content. We also maintain ongoing communication with players through Discord and social media.

TIG: Can you explain the endgame system and what players do after completing the main story?
Koo Do Hyung: Endgame focuses on enhancing Knight abilities and customizing playstyles through continuous growth. Players can challenge high-level bosses, craft advanced equipment, and experiment with different builds. Daily open-world missions, collection, crafting, and events provide ongoing progression. The core of endgame is strategic experimentation, not repetitive grind, allowing players to develop their characters continually.
