Where Winds Meet Vehicle System Inspired by Zelda

Where Winds Meet, the open-world PS5 game, is back in the spotlight with news that the title is testing a vehicle-building system in China. The feature draws inspiration from the creative assembly mechanics seen in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, allowing players to construct cars, boats, and even aircraft, adding a new layer of gameplay depth and freedom.

Vehicle-Building System Expands Player Creativity

The new system currently under testing in China lets players combine parts to build vehicles, much like the mechanics in Nintendo’s action-adventure hit. For example, wooden panels with four wheels and an engine can form a basic car. Adding steering components increases maneuverability. The system is designed for vehicles across land, water, and air, encouraging limitless creativity.

Players can save and share their vehicle blueprints with others. Additionally, there’s a standard pre-made vehicle, a quirky helicopter called the “Flying Chicken,” available from the start to teach players the basics of assembling parts. Since the Chinese version launched over a year before the global release, international players may need to wait to access the feature.

Even though the system isn’t yet on global servers, this staggered rollout gives Everstone Studios time to refine and perfect the mechanics. Meanwhile, the mobile version is set to launch on December 12 with full cross-play across all platforms. Within just two weeks, the game has already attracted over 9 million players worldwide.

Where Winds Meet immerses players in ancient China during the turbulent late Tang Dynasty, a period marked by political upheaval and personal tragedy. Players take on the role of a skilled individual navigating this chaotic era, making choices that influence the fate of the dynasty. The game is planned for release on PC, iOS, Android, and PS5, with the PS5 version enjoying a six-month timed exclusivity.
