Ghost of Yōtei: A New Chapter in the Samurai Saga

Sucker Punch Productions is set to release Ghost of Yōtei, a standalone sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, on October 2, 2025, exclusively for the PlayStation 5. Gameplay Enhancements

Ghost of Yōtei builds upon its predecessor’s foundation, offering a third-person perspective that combines sword fighting, stealth, and exploration. Players can wield a diverse arsenal of weapons, including a traditional katana, tanegashima, ōdachi, yari, kusarigama, and the kaginawa (grappling hook), enabling varied tactical approaches. New features include dynamic weather effects such as snow, rain, and auroras inspired by the real environment around Mount Yōtei.

The game introduces a flexible, non-linear quest structure, allowing players to choose the order in which they confront the Yōtei Six. In 2026, a free multiplayer mode titled “Legends” will be introduced, allowing players to choose from four character classes and face off against demonic, giant versions of the Yōtei Six, supported by a range of new enemies. The mode includes two-player story missions and four-player survival matches, expanding the game’s replayability and cooperative gameplay options.
