Granblue Fantasy Versus to End Support for Certain Online Modes

Granblue Fantasy Versus, the fighting game spin-off from the popular Japanese RPG franchise, will soon discontinue support for several online features. The announcement comes from Cygames, following the release of the newer title Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising in late 2023.

While the game has been praised for blending traditional fighting game mechanics with RPG-inspired elements, Cygames has confirmed that parts of its online infrastructure will be phased out in the coming months.

Details of the Online Mode Shutdown

Starting April 20, Granblue Fantasy Versus will discontinue the following features:

  • Journal mode for uploading replay videos
  • Ranked Matches
  • Online Lobbies
  • In-game profile customization

Online play with friends will remain available, allowing players to continue enjoying private matches and room-based sessions.

However, this change will directly impact trophy and achievement progression. The trophies “Now the Real Fight Begins!” and “Hot Enough for You?” will no longer be obtainable once the affected modes are disabled. As a result, PlayStation players may be unable to earn the Platinum Trophy if these requirements are not completed in advance.

Following the shutdown, Cygames will shift its focus toward events and ongoing support for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising instead.

How to Unlock Missable Trophies Before Service Ends

Now the Real Fight Begins!

Unlock requirement:
Players must enter Ranked Matches and complete at least seven battles. This includes five matches against CPU opponents and two matches against real players.

Hot Enough for You?

Unlock requirement:
Players must defeat at least one opponent in an online match through Online Lobby, Ranked Match, or Room Match.

Players aiming for full trophy completion are advised to finish these objectives before the shutdown date.
