iPhone 18 Pro Rumored to Feature Under-Display Face ID and Next-Gen LTPO+ Display Technology
Rumors surrounding the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max continue to gain momentum, with the latest reports suggesting Apple may finally introduce under-display Face ID technology in 2026. This change would move Face ID sensors from the current capsule-shaped cutout to beneath the display pixels, significantly increasing usable screen space and marking Apple’s biggest front design overhaul since the debut of iPhone X in 2017.
Smaller Dynamic Island Still Expected
Despite Face ID components shifting under the display, leaker ShrimpApplePro reports that Dynamic Island is not expected to disappear entirely. Instead, it may become noticeably shorter and smaller, leaving only the front-facing camera and limited infrared components visible.
However, a separate report from The Information suggests Apple could take a more radical approach by relocating the front camera to the top-left corner of the screen, potentially eliminating the capsule-shaped cutout altogether. At this stage, it remains unclear whether Apple will reduce the size of Dynamic Island or remove it by changing the camera placement.
LTPO+ Display Promises Better Power Efficiency
Another major rumored upgrade is the adoption of Samsung’s new LTPO+ OLED panel technology. This next-generation display builds upon existing LTPO panels by improving transistor stability, allowing the screen to reduce power consumption while maintaining smooth 120Hz refresh rates.
As a result, users may see noticeably longer battery life, even under heavier workloads, making the LTPO+ display one of the most practical upgrades for everyday use.
A20 Pro Chip, AI Focus, and Camera Enhancements
On the hardware side, iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be powered by the A20 Pro chip, reportedly built on TSMC’s 2-nanometer process. RAM is rumored to increase to 12GB to better support advanced AI-driven features.
