Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026 Celebrates 10th Anniversary This May

Following a landmark year for the anime industry across streaming platforms and cinemas, Crunchyroll has officially announced the return of the Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026, set to take place in Tokyo, Japan, on May 23. This year’s ceremony marks a major milestone as the event celebrates its 10th anniversary, promising a grand-scale celebration honoring the creators, performers, and works that shaped anime over the past year.

The anniversary edition will feature a variety of global highlights, including a pre-show performance, celebrity appearances on the signature Orange Carpet, and exclusive live performances created specifically for the event. In total, awards will be presented across 32 categories, recognizing outstanding achievements throughout the anime industry.

Familiar Hosts and Special Performances

Beloved voice actress and artist Sally Amaki will once again return as co-host, joined by renowned broadcaster Jon Kabira, marking their fourth consecutive year hosting the ceremony together.

Crunchyroll has also revealed an initial lineup of performances. Legendary Japanese singer Yoko Takahashi will take the stage to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995), performing the timeless opening theme “A Cruel Angel’s Thesis.”

The ceremony will further elevate its musical presentation with a symphonic performance conducted by Hirofumi Kurita, performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, with arrangements by Kazunori Miyake, adding orchestral grandeur to the anniversary celebration. Additional artists and special performances will be announced in the coming weeks.

Nominations and Global Fan Voting

The official list of nominees for Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2026 will be announced on April 2, at which point global fan voting will open. Fans worldwide will be able to support their favorite anime series, films, creators, and performances across all 32 award categories.

Eligible works are selected from titles released between January 1 and December 31, 2025, and are evaluated by the Anime Awards 2026 judging panel, composed of independent experts from around the world, including creators, critics, influencers, and pop culture specialists.
