Girls Band Cry: First Riff Mobile Game Announced with TGS 2025 Demo

Fans of the Girls Band Cry anime have reason to celebrate as the official website confirms the launch of a new mobile game, Girls Band Cry: First Riff. A teaser trailer has already been released, and players will get a chance to try a demo version at Tokyo Game Show 2025 happening this weekend.

The game is developed by Donuts, the studio behind popular rhythm games like D4DJ and Tokyo 7th Sisters. First Riff is designed to expand the Girls Band Cry franchise, which debuted in 2024 to strong fan acclaim. Alongside this mobile release, the franchise will also launch another game titled Momoka Heave-Ho on Steam on September 28, marking a wider expansion of the Girls Band Cry universe.

The original anime, produced by Toei Animation, follows a group of girls facing hardships such as betrayal, abandonment, and life challenges in a big city. Despite these struggles, they pursue their dreams through music and singing. The series first aired in April 2024 with 13 episodes and later streamed internationally on Crunchyroll starting November of the same year.

The franchise is also expanding into movies with two planned releases: Seishun Kyosokyoku on October 3 and Naa, Mirai. on November 14, 2025, offering fans even more content from the Girls Band Cry world.
