[Preview] First Look at Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection – The Final Hits of the Rockman Ryuusei Line

For gamers in their late 20s to early 30s, Mega Man Star Force is likely a familiar name—the last line of the historic Rockman series. Building on the GameBoy Advance EXE series, it blends RPG elements with action-adventure gameplay.

At Tokyo Game Show 2025, CAPCOM showcased the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, freshly announced during the recent Nintendo Direct. We at ThisIsGame Thailand tried out the demo to bring firsthand impressions.

The demo is designed for a true test play, reflecting the structure of the original series. The menu mimics the classic PETs Transfer system, letting players access game, gallery, and options before jumping into the first game—covering versions Pegasus, Leo, or Dragon.

Controls remain simple: players guide Geo Stelar (Tsubaru) as in EXE, with vertical 3D battles instead of horizontal layouts. Since the original used dual screens, this collection still requires two-screen setup, though players can designate a primary screen or adjust sizes freely.

Quality-of-life features like auto-save and reworked music are present in the full game. The demo didn’t unlock online features or gallery, but the high-resolution fonts and 3D battle models look clean. While upscaling from small DS screens may limit visual detail, it’s still a nostalgic experience for fans.

About Mega Man Star Force: Legacy Collection
Set in a futuristic 220X world, players control Geo Stelar, who transforms into Mega Man to enter the world of radio waves. Gameplay alternates between exploration and 3D battle segments. The collection includes seven games across the three main titles and their variations, each offering unique story routes and power acquisition.

The collection also adds online battle and Battle Card trading systems. Launch is planned for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, offering both nostalgia and modern enhancements for fans and newcomers alike.
