Combat System Essentials: Weapons and Skills
Duet Night Abyss utilizes a unique hybrid combat system. Mastering it requires understanding how characters, weapons, and Phoxene energy interact.
Melee & Ranged Weapon Proficiency
Each character can equip two different weapon types: one melee and one ranged.
- Melee Weapons (e.g., Sword, Whipsword): These are used primarily to generate Phoxene charge quickly. They excel in close combat and quick combos.
- Ranged Weapons (e.g., Rifle, Grenade Launcher): These are used to release Phoxene charge for powerful elemental bursts and Skill DMG. They are ideal for managing distance and fighting flying enemies.
Tip: Seamlessly switching between melee (to charge energy) and ranged (to spend energy) is key to maximizing your Damage Per Second. Weapon switching can also be used as an animation cancel to quickly reset your attack chain.
Skill System and Progression
Every character has a set of Active Skills, Passive Skills, and an Ultimate.
- Active Skills: These are the core abilities, often with a Tap function for a quick attack and a Hold function for a stronger, modified effect. For complex characters (like the upcoming Zhiliu), these abilities can be combined to create various effects.
- Passive Skills: These provide constant buffs, triggered effects, or unique team utility, such as Daphne’s Critical Rate boost.
- Ultimate: A high-impact ability that deals massive damage or provides a powerful team-wide buff, often requiring a long cooldown.
Skill Upgrading: Prioritize upgrading the Active and Passive skills of your Main DPS and primary Support/Healer. Upgraded abilities often provide a greater increase in power than raw character leveling alone.
