KOEI Tecmo has announced a limited-time free DLC costume giveaway for Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, giving horror fans a chance to claim previously exclusive cosmetic items at no cost across all platforms.
The promotion was revealed as part of the 24th anniversary celebration of the Fatal Frame series, which took place on December 13. Players can download the free DLC starting now, with availability running until April 22 next year.
Anniversary Celebration Brings Back Exclusive Items
The free DLC includes costume and accessory items that were originally offered only as pre-order bonuses, making this the first opportunity for many players to obtain them through regular distribution.
For Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (Fatal Frame 4), the DLC features a total of four items. These include three fox mask variations that can be worn by Ruka, Misaki, and Choshiro, along with the Spirit Stone Flashlight headgear, a camera lens-inspired accessory worn on the character’s head.
Meanwhile, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water (Fatal Frame 5) receives a set of playful cosmetic items, including a witch hat for Yuri and Miu, as well as a camera-shaped head accessory that can be equipped by all playable characters. While purely cosmetic, these items add a lighter touch to the otherwise intense horror atmosphere of the series.
Available on All Platforms for a Limited Time
Both DLC packs are available for free on all supported platforms for a limited period only. Once the promotion ends on April 22, the items will no longer be obtainable through this offer, making it a time-sensitive opportunity for fans of the franchise.
Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse and Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water are currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
