PS Plus Extra January Update Brings Resident Evil Village and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
After enjoying the PlayStation Plus Essential free games at the start of the month, it is now time for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members to dive into the updated Game Catalog. For January, Sony welcomes the new year with a powerful lineup led by Resident Evil Village and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, alongside several atmospheric horror and indie titles that are perfect for extended play sessions throughout the month.
All of the following games will be available starting January 20 for PlayStation Plus Extra members.
Resident Evil Village
Get ready to revisit survival horror before the upcoming Requiem installment with the eighth main entry in the Resident Evil franchise. The story continues several years after Resident Evil 7, following Ethan Winters and his wife Mia as they attempt to live a peaceful life after escaping the Baker Mansion incident. That calm is shattered when Ethan encounters Chris Redfield once again, dragging him into a chilling nightmare set in a snow-covered European village filled with dark secrets and supernatural threats.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
The eighth mainline entry in the Yakuza franchise continues the story of Kasuga Ichiban, who once again becomes entangled in a large-scale mystery. This time, Kazuma Kiryu returns as a playable protagonist alongside Ichiban, marking the first time the series features two main characters simultaneously. The game retains its turn-based RPG combat while expanding exploration, side activities, and narrative depth across a compact open-world style map.
The Exit 8
A psychological horror experience centered around observation and paranoia. Players take on the role of an office worker trapped in an underground subway passage that feels endlessly looping. To escape, players must carefully observe their surroundings and identify anomalies. Encountering something unusual could mean danger, including being chased by mysterious shadows that force players to run for their lives before it is too late.
A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead
This survival horror game places players in a world overrun by deadly creatures that hunt by sound. You play as an unnamed woman struggling to survive during the collapse of society, where even the smallest noise can be fatal. Exploration, puzzle solving, and complete silence are key to uncovering secrets and staying alive in a tense and oppressive atmosphere inspired by the A Quiet Place universe.
Darkest Dungeon II
A roguelike turn-based RPG with a grim gothic tone, Darkest Dungeon II challenges players to assemble a team of heroes and guide them through brutal trials against nightmarish enemies. Beyond combat, players must carefully manage stress, fear, and mental health while upgrading skills and equipment under harsh limitations that constantly test strategic planning.
