A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei is a newly revealed action RPG developed by a Chinese studio, set during the late Ming Dynasty. Players take on the role of a double agent operating within a dangerous web of political intrigue, deception, and hidden power struggles.
In the game, players act as an underground operative from the black market who infiltrates the Jinyiwei, the elite imperial guard known as the Embroidered Uniform Guards. Caught in the middle of a grand conspiracy manipulated by unseen forces, the fate of the story depends entirely on the player’s decisions. Each choice can lead to vastly different outcomes, ranging from becoming a heroic savior, living a quiet life as a restrained official, or forging an entirely new path beyond the system itself.
Two Identities, Two Distinct Playstyles
Gameplay is divided into two core identities that reflect the protagonist’s double life.
In the first identity, players experience the world as a wandering martial artist. This playstyle emphasizes stealth, wall running, rooftop traversal, and direct combat against enemies, while exploring themes of loyalty, friendship, and revenge within the martial world.
The second identity places players in the role of a Jinyiwei investigator. This mode focuses on case-solving, interrogations, and uncovering the truth behind complex conspiracies. A key gameplay mechanic is the ability to rewind time, allowing players to revisit events from multiple perspectives and extract different pieces of information from suspects across various timelines. Mysteries shrouded in uncertainty and deception must be personally investigated and revealed by the player.

At the time of writing, A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei does not yet have an official release date. The game is confirmed to be in development for PlayStation 5 and PC, with planned releases on Steam and Epic Games Store.
