Samsung Freestyle+ Upgrades Brightness for 2026 with 430 ISO Lumens

Samsung Upgrades Brightness on the New Freestyle+ Projector for 2026
Specifications Increased to 430 ISO Lumens
Samsung has officially announced the Freestyle+, its latest portable projector model, with a strong focus on improving one of the most common complaints from previous generations—brightness. The new model is rated at 430 ISO Lumens, which Samsung claims delivers nearly double the brightness of earlier Freestyle versions. This improvement allows for clearer and more vibrant viewing even in environments with ambient light.
However, the 430 ISO Lumens figure may initially confuse some consumers. Earlier Freestyle models listed brightness levels as high as 550 Lumens. The discrepancy stems from the fact that previous specifications often used LED Lumens, a non-standard measurement that can exaggerate perceived brightness. With the Freestyle+, Samsung has switched to ISO Lumens, a stricter and internationally recognized industry standard that more accurately reflects real-world performance.
This move aligns with broader changes across the projector industry. Following legal action by Epson against several manufacturers over misleading brightness claims, many brands have been pressured to adopt transparent measurement standards. As a result, companies such as Anker and Xgimi have also transitioned to ISO or ANSI Lumens. For consumers, this shift makes it easier to compare the Freestyle+ directly with competing products and have greater confidence in the performance they can expect.
Design and Core Features
In terms of design, the Freestyle+ retains the series’ signature identity. The cylindrical body can rotate up to 180 degrees, allowing projection onto walls or ceilings with ease. It features upgraded 360-degree speakers that have been re-tuned for fuller and more immersive sound. The projector continues to support Full HD 1080p streaming over Wi-Fi and includes Samsung Gaming Hub, enabling cloud gaming without the need for a dedicated console.
At the heart of the Freestyle+ is AI OptiScreen, an intelligent system that manages all aspects of image optimization. This includes 3D Auto Keystone correction, real-time focus adjustment, and wall color calibration. The projector also introduces Vision AI Companion, which works alongside Bixby to provide more natural and intelligent voice-based interaction and content discovery.

Portability and Availability
Despite the brightness and AI upgrades, the Freestyle+ continues to prioritize portability and, like its predecessors, does not include a built-in battery. Users will need an external power bank or optional battery base accessory for outdoor or mobile use.
Samsung plans to showcase the Freestyle+ at CES 2026 next week, where official pricing and release details are expected to be announced. Attention is already focused on whether the new model will launch at a premium price similar to earlier versions, which previously reached USD 899.
