YouTube Recap Launches with Personalized Yearly Viewing Insights
YouTube has officially launched the new YouTube Recap, a long-awaited feature that gives users a complete yearly summary of their video-watching habits on the main platform. This marks the first time YouTube has released a full viewing recap outside of its music service, offering a personalized set of up to twelve cards that highlight each individual’s most-watched videos, creators and evolving interests throughout the year.
One of the most charming additions is the introduction of Viewer Persona categories that classify users based on the content styles they watch the most. These personas include Skill Builder for those who enjoy learning and self-improvement clips, Sunshiner for viewers who seek uplifting and inspiring content, and Trailblazer for those who favor unique and experimental creations. Other personas such as Wonder Seeker, Connector and Dreamer add even more variety, giving users a fun way to understand what kind of viewer they were this year.

Users can also see their most-played artists and songs of the year directly within Recap, with the option to dive deeper through YouTube Music for more detailed analytics. The full Recap experience is rolling out now and can be accessed from the YouTube homepage and the You tab across mobile and desktop devices.
YouTube revealed that the new feature was developed in response to overwhelming user demand. The platform tested more than fifty design concepts before finalizing the version now available, focusing on making the visuals appealing and highly shareable. Alongside the launch, YouTube also released its annual trend charts, showcasing the top creators, podcasts and songs that dominated the year.
This year’s results came as no surprise, with MrBeast maintaining his position as the top creator for the sixth consecutive year. The Joe Rogan Experience led the podcast category once again, while the song of the year went to the powerhouse duo Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga with their hit Die with a Smile. The arrival of YouTube Recap also coincided with the release of Apple Music Replay and Amazon Music’s 2025 Delivered, signaling an increasingly competitive push among streaming platforms to capture end-of-year social media momentum while audiences wait for Spotify Wrapped.
YouTube Recap shows that the platform is listening, delivering a polished and personalized year-end experience that finally puts video watchers on the same level of celebration as music listeners.
