Ragnarok Online is one name that stands above the rest when you talk about MMORPGs in Southeast Asia especially in the Philippines. For many, it’s not just a game but one of the online games that forged friendships, rivalries and communities that thrived beyond the screen. From bustling streets of Prontera to epic clashes in War of Emporium, Ragnarok chiseled itself to Filipino gamers, becoming a household name associated with the golden age of online gaming back in 2000s.

From the familiar chime of the login screen, the sight of characters wearing the iconic Poring hats, and the thrill of joining your first guild became a shared experience that united a generation of gamers. Whether you were a devoted PvE adventurer grinding in Payon Cave or simply a beginner thinking about what class to get, Ragnarok gave players countless reasons to return every day.

As the gaming industry shifted, so did Ragnarok. New versions, spin-offs and mobile adaptations emerged to capture both returning veterans and curious newcomers. These updates ensured that even when technology advanced, the essence of what made Ragnarok special, the community, adventure and exploration, remained intact.

And now, more than two decades later, Ragnarok is expanding once again, taking a step forward with new titles in its story. In their media briefing in Philippine Game Dev Expo (PGDX), Gravity showcases several Ragnarok titles set to release this 2025 in different countries catering to every gamer out there.

For mobile gamers, Gravity released Ragnarok Crush, a three-puzzle system mixed with RPG elements for its hybrid game mechanic. Meanwhile, Ragnarok Twilight offers enhanced graphics through 3D cartoon rendering with their smart progression system for those who love the classic aesthetic of the game.

Fans are also excited for the release of Ragnarok V: Returns which will be released worldwide offering its loading-free 3D environment and offline progression, making it friendly for casual gamers due to its auto battle and idle rewards. In addition to that is Ragnarok X: Next Generation, a remake of the classic RO with its iconic maps, classes and monsters reimagined in full 3D. Set to be released in October in Europe and MENA region, players will be excited to experience immersive environments with the game’s dynamic day and night cycle and weather effects. Both games will be available in Mobile and PC.

Another title set to release this October is Project Abyss (The Next Ragnarok). Now in full 3D, this game will have a dynamic action-oriented combat with its seamless open world and will cater to Southeast Asian fans.

With these titles coming in store for Ragnarok fans, there’s also exciting things that fans of the franchise will be looking forward to! Ragnarok will be having an e-sports global tournament for guilds in Ragnarok Festa 2025! This means that local guilds in the Philippines will fight for a spot to get to the finals which will be held in Thailand this December. On top of that, new animation and remaster projects are another thing that they have been working on, bringing a new life to the Ragnarok stories that fans had grown to love over the years.

As a new generation of gamers step into the world of MMORPGS, Ragnarok continues to stand not just as a relic but proof that some adventures never fade. And though the banners may change, and the battles may evolve, the call of Rune Midgard remains the same. Gravity welcomed not only seasoned Ragnarok players to its beloved franchise but it also offers a different experience for every type of gamer. Whether in mobile or PC, Ragnarok has always been more than just a game. It is the people, the friendships, and the memories that truly kept its flame ignited.
